The Norwegian retreat

Uppdaterad 17 April, 2017

The small cabin is located somewhere between the deep forests and high mountains in beautiful Norway. I should really spend more time in this exceptional country. The house represents a living dream for a lot of people but in reality is not as picture perfect.

Right next to the small cabin a major road runs by and power lines cut through the forest just next to the building.

In the summer of 2015, me and my wife took our Kia and drove from southern Sweden into Norway all the way up to the famous Trollstigen (The Trolls Road). After about an hour on the top mingling with the tourists, we drove back down again, crossed the Swedish border in Värmland before returning to Blekinge where the trip began.

I would love to return for this year’s vacation but in a weak moment, I promised the wife that we would drive in a completely different direction this year. Instead of the chilly fjords of Norway, we will spend a couple of weeks on the warm European roads instead.

But with that being said, I will return to Norway sometime in the future. Not in a Kia though, nowadays we use a motor home for sleeping and transportation.
